Dinner Hotspot of the Week: Pizzaria Italia
So during these busy times where we try to combine social life with exams, we all sometimes need a breather. This week, I suggest that you do it by not cooking for yourself and getting a lovely pizza at Italia – situated on the Carolieweg at number 11.
The pizzaria has a small door which creates the illusion of it being a small mom and pop's restaurant which can only seat a few people... but nothing can be more untrue! Like many buildings in Groningen, Italia's building is spaceful enough to sit many people at once, although I would suggest that you book ahead of time if you're intending to eat there with a group.
Once inside, you're greeted by one of two lovely Italian ladies who breathe the Italian hospitality some of you may have heard about or even experienced during your Erasmus time!
Ordering a pizza is an adventure: with around 70 standard choices, and the option to add just that little bit extra, you can rest assured that what you want is on the menu! During your wait, be sure to treat yourself to a royal glass of wine. Once your pizza arives, you'll probably be baffled by its size... but rest assured, doggie-bagging is allowed!
One thing I personally love about this restaurant that they're fussy about how long you stay – it is a lovely place to catch up with that person from home who is visiting you, or to take that special person to (*wink*). So before you leave, go visit Pizzaria Italia!
