One of the goals of the ISC is to gain insight into the problems, questions and difficulties international students encounter when studying at the RUG. In case of structural problems, we can either contact the departments directly or address the problems and possible solutions via the student representatives in the university council.
DUNSA, the Dutch United Nations Student Association, SIB in Dutch, is the student organisation for international relations. With more than 300 members, it is the largest internationally orientated student organisation in Groningen. DUNSA gives its members the chance to meet politicians and other important actors of the international arena. Every week we organise different activities such as workshops, lectures, discussions and debates. Recent speakers have included Givi Taktakishvili, a former Georgian Minister of Economic Affairs, and Charles Groenhuijsen, former correspondent in the US for Dutch Broadcasting Organisation NOS. During a conference on the Millennium Development Goals we had live video contact with Jeffrey Sachs, the Special Advisor of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. Furthermore, we organise a trip to a foreign country every year, with the chance to visit embassies, ministries and NGO's.
