Douwe Kreeftenberg – Secretary ESN Groningen Board 2023/2024
Greetings, everyone! I’m Douwe Kreeftenberg, currently serving as the Secretary on the 36th Executive Board of ESN Groningen. I am 21 years old and I’ve recently completed my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Groningen. Following a fantastic semester abroad in Sweden, I came to realize the incredible experience that international exchanges offer, as it was one of the most memorable times in my life. Upon returning, I missed the international atmosphere and wanted to connect with more international individuals here in Groningen. Recognizing that integrating into a new environment can be quite challenging, I decided to join the Executive Board of this remarkable organization to facilitate this process for both Dutch and international students. My hope is to ensure that they have an equally amazing time here in Groningen, just as I did in Uppsala. Through these efforts, I aspire to bring Dutch and international students closer together, fostering a more inclusive and enriching experience for all.
Position description
The Secretary position has many clear tasks. For example, I am the main contact person for questions from international and Dutch students, and organisations. Furthermore, I am responsible for taking the minutes during meetings. Next to that, I am responsible for the weekly newsletter as well as sending out emails or invitations to keep everyone up to date. Adding to that, I am responsible for the privacy policy of ESN. I am also the board responsible for two awesome committees: the Sports Committee and the Social Erasmus Committee!
Another thing the board is responsible for is the organization of the Introduction Week. I am responsible for recruiting all the Introduction Guides who make this week a great success. Next to that, I am the organizer of the legendary Pub Crawl at the start of the Introduction Week as well as the Band Night.
I am looking forward to working together with my five other board members to make this year an amazing one!
