ESN Introduction Week September 2021 COVID-19 Update

Dear Introduction Week participants,

We all live in a very uncertain time. Before the start of the Introduction Week, we have spent a lot of time on making the corona admission ticket rules as clear as possible for everyone including ourselves. As stated in all our communication via social media and information emails, we would only approve EMA approved vaccines (https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/human-regulatory/overview/public-health-threats/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/treatments-vaccines/covid-19-vaccines).

Yesterday, during the first sign up day, we actually got to see many of the different kinds of vaccine certificates for the first time. Unfortunately, this made us doubt our rules. After calling with the Dutch Rijksoverheid, the GGD, and Testen Voor Toegang, we now want to give you absolute clarity on what kind of vaccines are allowed for access to the ESN Introduction Week. Following the Dutch government and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the following vaccines are allowed to be used as the Corona Admission Ticket to access the events of the Introduction Week:

This means that the approved vaccines for travelling and the approved vaccines for big events/festival/parties are different in the Netherlands. If you have, thus, not received any of the above-mentioned vaccines, you will have to get tested by Testen voor Toegang to get access to the events. Even if you have been told something else yesterday. We understand that this is very upsetting and we are sorry for this. I hope you all understand that we do not make the rules, so please be respectful to the ESN staff. We have to listen to the Dutch government. These rules are non-negotiable. We do not make exceptions.

Luckily, testing is free and very easy in the Netherlands. It has to be done via Testen Voor Toegang. You will get your results within 2 hours.

When showing us your proof of vaccination, you can show:

  • A QR-Code from the Dutch app or the app from your home country (only European countries!)
  • An official paper document as issued by your government with a QR-Code.
  • An official paper document as issued by your government without a QR-Code.
  • Your vaccination card stating your name, date of birth, the vaccine you got, and the date you got the vaccine.

You will also have to show an Identification Card (ID card, passport or drivers license). If you do not bring an identification card, you will be denied access, even if you show your corona admission ticket!

We look forward to seeing you all on Friday!

With kind regards,

ESN Groningen
