Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l'Europe (AEGEE) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe; it is represented by 15.000 students, active in 241 academic cities, in 40 countries all around Europe, which presents amazing culture variety. AEGEE is a secular, non-profit organization, not linked to any political party. All projects and activities are based on voluntarily work of its members.
AIESEC is the world's largest youth led, leadership development organization. It was established shortly after the Second World War by seven countries, and is currently operating in more than 120 countries. By means of global exchange AIESEC stimulates global cooperation and cultural understanding. This exchange could be a voluntary project or a professional internship. Just go!
ALAS - Association of Latin American Students
ALAS was founded in October 2010. It welcomes all students from the University of Groningen and Hanzehogeschool, not only from Latin America but also from other countries who are interested in knowing more about Latin America's culture and customs or just practice Spanish! ALAS offers a social and cultural network and is a perfect point of reference for those who consider to study in Groningen.
ASC - African Students Community
ASC is a Student Community in Groningen (Netherlands) aimed at, among others:
- Uniting African Students studying at the University of Groningen (RuG).
- Creating links between African students and other students studying in the RuG.
- Creating awareness on global issues.
- Stimulating integration through recreation activities.
GISA - Groningen Indian Student Association
GISA aims to represent and promote the common interest of the Indian students, create a spirit of togetherness, showcase India's rich cultural heritage through a variety of events, and help incoming students develop an international social network as well. We encourage students and families to come together and celebrate the Indian spirit, with a dash of Dutch culture!
International Student Council
One of the goals of the ISC is to gain insight into the problems, questions and difficulties international students encounter when studying at the RUG. In case of structural problems, we can either contact the departments directly or address the problems and possible solutions via the student representatives in the university council.
PPI Groningen - Indonesian Student Association
PPI Groningen (PPIG) is an Indonesian Student Association in Groningen. Founded in 1998, PPIG has been recognized by RuG, Hanzehogeschool, Indonesian Embassy for The Netherlands, and PPI Belanda or Indonesian Student Association in The Netherlands, and continues to grow. PPIG strives to create a community in which vital information can be shared and a mutual sense of belonging is established, as well as being a representative of Indonesia in various International activities. PPIG also holds annual gatherings for the community and create events that showcase Indonesia's diversity through variety of its events, such as Indonesian Day which can be enjoyed by everyone.
With about 500 members, SIB-Groningen is the largest international student association in Groningen. We organize weekly intellectual activities combined with drinks/parties and we have annual flagship events like the Brussels Trip, the Hitchhiking Contest, a big 10-day trip to foreign countries and the Diplomats Dinner. Recent speakers include Lilianne Ploumen (Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation) and André Kuipers (Dutch astronaut), but every week of the academic year we promise to have an interesting activity for you. All students can join the SIB for only 35 euros per year, regardless of where you come from or what you study, but you can always stop by our office or visit us at Peperstraat 19 on Monday nights.
The European International Model United Nations (TEIMUN), is an annual United Nations simulation for university students across the globe. TEIMUN gives you the opportunity to experience the working and decision-making process of the United Nations through role-playing in one of the organs simulated, helping participants to gain a multicultural view of world affairs and to develop public speaking and debating skills.
VISOG - Vietnamese Students Organization in Groningen
ViSOG: Community, connection, exchange of all information related to learning and life in Groningen and around the world for Vietnamese students who were, are and will be studying and working in Groningen. ViSOG welcomes all Vietnamese, Dutch and international students to our social and cultural network.
