Jan-Philip Marnet – External Relations Coordinator & Vice-President of the ESN Groningen Board 2025/2026

Hi everyone! My name is Jan-Philip and I am the External Relations Coordinator of the 38th Board of ESN Groningen. I am 25 years old and from southern Germany, where I studied Geography in Heidelberg. Since 2022 I am in Groningen, where I study Spatial Planning at the RUG. I joined ESN in December 2023, helped as an Introduction Guide during previous Introweeks and was President of the Live Music Night Committee and the Buddy & Integration Committee before joining the Board. Some of my favourite things are learning languages, Eurovision and urban planning.

Position description

As the External Relations Coordinator, I am responsible for the contact with commercial partners and NGOs. This allows me to be the professional face of ESN Groningen and explore potential partnerships and collaborations with local but also national and international companies and organisations that could benefit the network. If an external party is interested in collaborating with ESN Groningen, I will plan an appointment and assess the possibilities of a successful partnership or event.

As this position is very flexible, I have a lot of freedom to pursue new ideas and extend the number of partnerships. Furthermore, I supervise two committees, namely the Network Committee and the Party & Pub Quiz Committee. Lastly, I am responsible for all theme parties, weekly ESN Wednesdays and the parties in the Introduction Week organised by ESN Groningen.
