ESN Introduction Week Information Points
Do you have a question or an Introduction Week-related issue? Come by any of the ESN Information Points to get it resolved.
Joining the ESN Introduction Week later than August 30th or unable to attend the Sign-up days? You can claim your wristband, goodie bag and public transit card from any ESN Information Point. Here you will also receive the information to find your group.

Practical information
- Do not take off or cut off your Introduction Week wristband! Doing so voids your ticket and you will not receive a new wristband.
- For the latest updates make sure always to check the Introduction Week Platform and our Instagram. In your confirmation e-mail, you received your personal sign-in information for the Introduction Week. You can use this information to sign into the Platform. You can find a link to the Introduction Week platform on the Introduction Week page on the ESN Groningen website (www.esn-groningen.nl). The information on the Platform will also be available in the ESN Groningen App, once you are logged in with your personal sign-in information.
Rules
- The use of drugs is strictly prohibited during the entire ESN Introduction Week. Breaking this rule voids your ticket and you will be banned from participating in the Introduction Week as well as any events organised by or on behalf of ESN Groningen.
- The consumption of alcohol by underage participants (<18 years old) and the purchasing of alcoholic beverages for them is strictly prohibited. Breaking this rule voids your ticket and you will be banned from participating in the Introduction Week.
- It is not allowed to have dinner with your (entire) group at international student houses during the ESN Introduction Week.
- By participating in the ESN Introduction Week, you automatically agree to the Terms & Conditions and the Code of Conduct of Stichting ESN Groningen.

Welcome to Groningen!
On behalf of ESN Groningen, I am proud to wish you a warm welcome to our beautiful city! Being considered one of the most lively and active student cities in the Netherlands is merely one of the many amazing qualities Groningen has to offer. Having lived in Portugal my entire life, I arrived in Groningen for my Bachelor’s Degree without knowing the city or anyone who lived here. Soon enough, my nerves were replaced with excitement, as I found my way and got to work on an interesting degree while meeting incredible people.
ESN Groningen aims to help international students smoothly integrate into the Netherlands. Throughout the year, together with our ten active committees, we organize 150+ exciting events ranging from theme parties and must-visit excursions to cultural workshops and international dinners. With these activities, we hope to create unforgettable memories and lasting friendships. Through our initiatives such as the Christmas and Buddy Programme, we strive for a sense of togetherness within the student community.
The Introduction Week is now about to kick off and with this manual we intend to prepare you for this unique experience. You will soon build new friendships and get to know this wonderful city. Ahead lies a week filled with fun parties, workshops and activities, all designed to give you the best possible start to your time in Groningen.
