Student Culture Centre Usva
Usva is the cultural facility for students in Groningen. Usva is the place to develop your talents or try something completely new! We offer a wide range of courses and events. For instance, you can join courses in the following categories:
Visual Arts & Fashion // Body & mind // Dance // Drama //
Film, photo & design // Music // Writing & Speaking
The courses are usually divided into trimesters of approximately 10 weeks, although some courses are longer and others are shorter. Most of our courses have different entry levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each course is taught by a professional teacher in small groups or even individually; the perfect environment to develop your skills! All of these courses are offered at a discount for students.
Besides the courses, the Student Board and committees of Usva organize many different events. You can drop by the monthly Jam Sessions, Beer Yoga’s, and Lie Down and Listens. You can also sit back and enjoy a movie at the bimonthly Movie Nights or test your knowledge at our quizzes. SPOT also often organizes events in our theatre, like try-outs for comedians. Check our agenda on the website or keep track of the Instagram if you want to keep up to date with our events.
Throughout the year, we also organize some big events, for example:
– Flicks International Student Short Film Festival, a three-day festival with the best short films of the year.
– O-Swap, a clothing swap event
– KEI x Usva Bandcontest, where you can enjoy some amazing up-and-coming bands.
– Lazarus Festival, a free festival with lots of different fun cultural things to do
– And many more…
Many of these events are organized with the help of our committees. If you would like to become part of the cultural student world, we may have the perfect committee for you!
